New Magic Pen Item doesn't look good...

I honestly thought it was going to shred MR like BC, where it would also benefit your allies instead of just giving you MPen. This looks just weird and worse than cryptbloom

Even when fully stacked it's on the low end of magic pen... 30% is equal to abyssal mask, terminus and cryptbloom. And both abyssal and cryptbloom apply their full 30% at all times*, no need to stack. The stats don't seem all that good either, so that doesn't really make up for it either. It has 5 AP and AH less than cryptbloom, but it does have 350 health. Cryptbloom on the other hand gives its healing passive and full penetration at all times, oh and it's notably cheaper too.

*Abyssal just does it in an area around you. And while it isn't mentioned in the video, I'm sure terminus and abyssal are also exclusive with this new item, just like they are with the items mentioned.

To be fair, this feels more like an item for champions like Mordekaiser, Udyr and Swain (Not sure how quick it stacks on them though), but the issue is that abyssal feels way better unless they change something.

200 years game design and they really thought AP black cleaver would be effective like this.
The max is 6 stacks, a champ has 5 parts to their kit. Ignoring the passive and ult, that's 3 consistent abilities. Let's be generous and assume all 3 abilities have magic damage; that means that those abilities would have to come back online in under 6 seconds AND all 6 sources of damage would have to land.

Compare that to auto attackers that can almost always get enough autos in to fully stack black cleaver, and the evidence shows that this item is actually ass.

It doesn't even have an extra passive like BC.

If it's intentional it's kinda funny because I don't think Brand and Malz would be broken with this if their DoTs stacked this up.

There is quite literally zero reason to buy this item when Void Staff exists

I feel like it should:
- Stack as an on-spell effect, once per second per source
- Refresh on any damage to champions
- Stack more slowly, but a much higher cap so it has the potential to give more pen than Void Staff, but only in super long fights. Like, 2% pen per stack, up to 25.

They should make it a shred instead of pen, I know Abyssal exists, but this just makes MR Shred more accessible.

Also doesn't make sense to go for a Magic Pen you have to stack first but only goes up to 30%, when Cryptbloom and Voidstaff already exists and gives 30-40% magic pen instantaneously.

0:49 finally riot using their brain, overtime damaging effects should not affect item effects more than once, that should go for all of the items, like rylais and liandry’s.

Okay I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say that the item is likely just NOT working as intended due to it being a work-in-progress.
The fact that Malz E doesn't apply at all or brand passive at all but singed Q works kind of just gives the impression that the item is currently glitched.

Hopefully they take into account community advice regarding having it work more like black cleaver than a self-buff and applying on DOTs as well.

Potentially they can reduce the speed at which DOTs apply it or something, but as it stands now, void staff seems to just be a better option.
