This song answers to all of them who blame my country Greece and forgot who we really are and a big answer to the greek politicians who also forget a lot of things.......
1.«Νυν υπέρ πάντων ο αγών»
"Now the struggle is above all and for all"
Thus quote the national government, the dictator Ioannis Metaxas urged the nation to "arms"
2.«Εις οιωνός άριστος, αμύνεσθε περί πάτρης»
Homer places Hector as the very noblest of all the heroes in the Iliad: he is both peace-loving and brave, thoughtful as well as bold, a good son, husband and father, and without darker motives. When the Trojans are disputing whether the omens are favourable, he retorts:
"One omen is best:defending the fatherland."
3.Τα λόγια του Μακρυγιάννη:
«...είναι αδύνατες οι θέσεις κι' εμείς, όμως είναι δυνατός ο θεός όπου μας προστατεύει. Και θα δείξωμεν την τύχη μας σ' αυτές τις θέσεις τις αδύνατες. Κι αν είμαστε ολίγοι εις το πλήθος του Μπραϊμη, παρηγοριόμαστε μ' ένα τρόπον, ότι η τύχη μας έχει τους Έλληνες πάντοτε ολίγους. Ότι αρχή και τέλος, παλαιόθεν και ως τώρα, όλα τα θεριά πολεμούν να μας φάνε και δεν μπορούνε. Τρώνε από μας και μένει και μαγιά. Και οι ολίγοι αποφασίζουν να πεθάνουν. Κι όταν κάνουν αυτήνη την απόφασιν, λίγες φορές χάνουν και πολλές κερδαίνουν»
Makriyannis Words:
"...our position is hopeless and we are weak. However God is strong and He protects us. And our fate will be shown in these hopeless positions. Although we are a few against the crowd of Mpraϊmi, we comfort ourselves, in a way that fate has us Greeks, always a few. That from the start till the end, from ancient times and until now, all lions are fighting to eat us and they cannot. All of them eat from us and still there is yeast leftover. And then quite a few of us decide to die. And when they take this decision, they rarely lose and most of the times win»

"Come take [them]!" "Come and get them"
King Leonidas of Sparta, in Response to King Xerxes of Persia demand That's The Greek Army Lay down Their arms Before The Battle of Thermopylae
5.«Ή ταν ή επί τας»
Ē tān ē epì tâs
"Either [with] it [your shield], or on it"
Meaning "either you will win the battle, or you will die and then be carried back home on your shield".
It was said by Spartan mothers to their sons before they went out to battle to remind them of their bravery and duty to Sparta and Greece.
6.Όρκος των Αθηναίων εφήβων
"Ου καταισχυνώ τα όπλα τα ιερά,
ουδ' εγκαταλείψω τον παραστάτη αυτών, ότω αν στοιχίσω.
Αμυνώ δε και υπέρ ιερών και οσίων

Την πατρίδα ουκ ελάττω παραδώσω, πλείω δε και αρείω όσοις αν παραδέξωμαι."

"I will not bring dishonour on my sacred arms nor will I abandon my comrade wherever I shall be stationed. I will defend the rights of gods and men and will not leave my country smaller, when I die, but greater and better, so far as I am able by myself and with the help of all."
7."Ὦ ξεῖν', ἀγγέλλειν Λακεδαιμονίοις ὅτι τῇδε κείμεθα, τοῖς κείνων ῥήμασι πειθόμενοι."
Ô xeîn', angéllein Lakedaimoníois hóti tê(i)de / keímetha toîs keínōn rhē'masi peithómenoi.
"Stranger, tell the Spartans that here we lie, obedient to their laws."
