New legislation in South Africa could enable the government to buy white-owned farmland without consent. The bill still needs to be signed into law by President Jacob Zuma.

Here's the problem. A man wanted to be boss, but didn't realize what being Boss was all about. He gathered a gang & went about in a destructive manner, until he became Boss. But then, he didn't have a place to stay & there was no food. But, he was in charge. Proof Positive that "being Bright & being in Charge", might be two different things. When the last white man has left South Africa, the lights will go off without any effort being expended by that man. The Black Africans will cause the lights to dim & go out on their own. Back to the stone age....

At the time white settlers came, blacks had vast herds of cattle and were cultivating land with the best skills of that time. It is therefore an insult to suggest that blacks cannot have the skills to farm. They were farmers and those skills were lost not because of lack of intelligence or stupidity of any kind but because they were violently removed and denied access to the land.

Mugabe's failure has been on policy. Severe marketing restrictions have made it impossible for anyone to farm meaningfully. You can only sale most produce to the government and the government does not pay for the produce.

So if buying land and redistributing it did not succeed how will Appropriation without compensation will? Especially if the former failed because of lack of experience. That experience will not come out of nowhere. Economically it makes no sense. Its just a Mugabe style action.

Like I’m broadly in favor of land reform, but I agree with what the farmer said. It’s sort of pointless if the guy can’t farm.

Theresa may told Kenyans to welcome all Europeans back & white south Africans. & take all Europeans as Kenyans citizens. So don't force yourself to Black south Africa lands.

Not a crisis at all....what you do is bring other africana in or get some African American farmers to teach you, we got you . You should go into the white farmers history and see if they supported apartheid or did nothing against it if they did take the farm no compensation. . If they didn't let them keep it. Most will have it taken I'm sure.

The EFF’s entire economic policy, it seems, consists of weakening the very institutions that economists have identified as key drivers of economic growth. Forcing experienced farmers to illegally expropriate large farmlands without compensation is illegal and will be a death sentence for their economy when they realize their their experience will only land will only be able to produce subsistence farming that will offer neither them, nor their children, a way out of poverty. These paths of populist takeovers based only on racial grievances that continue to dismantle institutions, South Africa will be turned into a kleptocracy akin to countries like Venezuela and Zimbabwe. Economic failed social state of Doom!

when the black will get land- it will be a major catahrosphia. if you put 200 black people on the same farm size that had one family of 6 on it. where will you get the water for those people? and when the land get divided among the 200 blacks to farm that land where will they all get trucks? machines, storage, houses when they can't even afford a proper meal? how will they be able farm a produce food? on that farm. by unit the government will tax that land to reap more money out of them and also on the production. they do not even take it into account how much fertilizer and seeds and distribution cost !. the government wants to market the produce and not the 200 farmers on one farm to eat it up. its a really poverty there. also the blacks farm by unit will fall cause they don't know how the land works or know how to have a good organized economy. instead it will be a great debt by farmer by farmer. the percentage of produce will be much less then now. it's all about calculattion.
