I got ripped into the other day when i said we dont participate in Halloween. First, i was apparently acting better than her. Then i was ruining my kids childhood not letting them trick or treat. Then i was a hypocrite because I have 3 cats.... not sure how that related, but she just got progressively more angry my family doesn't participate because the entire concept is fundamentally againt our beliefs. Saying we take our kids to our church gym on Halloween for a family lock in made her full on scream at me because she said then we are celebrating it. No, we arent. Our pastor thinks its safer to keep his flock under the churches roof of that particular night. We just do our own thing.

It was a very weird interaction. I've been trying to process it all week.

Sorry to burst the religious peoples bubbles but Halloween never was originally meant to be satanic (and still isn’t) The celts (the culture that started Halloween) wore scary costumes during the end of the harvest season to fight off demons. Opposite of satanic lol. I also saw someone in the comments saying “no voodoo in this house!” Voodoo is another religion that is commonly mistaken to be satanic. It never was. I swear Christians think if the religion ain’t Christian it’s satanic lol. Religion is not an excuse for hate and Your religion is not an excuse for diminishing another’s religion. Hope you all become better people.

honestly, y’all can choose whether you wanna celebrate halloween or not. there are always exceptions and rules for religions and i respect that. however, i hope y’all who aren’t celebrating it are being respectful to others who DO celebrate it. like, everybody has a right to do what they enjoy. if you’re allowed to NOT celebrate it, others should be allowed TO celebrate it ❤️

I was born on Halloween it’s my birthday in my first picture in the hospital I have on a baby witch hat, I celebrated my birthday on Halloween every year growing up with Halloween parties and I grew up in a Christian household. This seems ridiculous that people are taking this stance towards a silly holiday that is meant to be fun! and sometimes spooky and scary is fun! I would be so sad as a kid if my parents took that away from me. They are some of my best memories and I hope to pass that on to my kids.

I’m a Christian and I love Halloween 🤷🏼‍♀️ I make everything as child friendly as possible- no witches, spells, or anything demonic. I think wearing a fun costume and going trick or treating is fine, some of my best childhood memories. With all things, I think it’s about your convictions.
