If you can drive them good, the sm series are great for streaming... But they are generally reallyu quiet, and very uni directional. So you basically glotta remember to be right up on it the entire time. Great for music.

I have to put it out there, the grille on the 58 acts as a built in pop filter for use live making additional filters mildly redundant.

I have a SM58, great mic for its price, and not as fragile as some expensive ones, good deal.

Wow, that's a great review! Thank you! I have a question. I use my Shure Sm58 with Focusrite scarlet Mono, and it is so quiet in Discord for example, or when I try to do voiceovers in Au. I turn to gain almost full and it is still quiet. I want to use this setup for streams for example, but I don't know what I need to do to make my sound not only nice-sounding but also loud enough. Any advice on what can be improved? Maybe some soft? In my AMD software I have a feature that makes my sound from this setup sound loud and clear, but only there. Thank you!

The SM58 to my ears sounds better than the EV320. So „X is better than Y“ is a relative and highly subjective on this matter.

I know this video is three years old but I hope you still see this comment because I have a question! Lol. Thank you so much for this review. I just started a twitch channel and I want to buy the Shure 58 to use. What brand of adapter are you using to make it USB friendly? Shure sells one, the X2U, which looks really nice but it's the same price as the microphone. Just curious what you were rocking in this setup, would so appreciate a reply. Thank you for your time! The shure has a built in popper stopper foam inside of it under the metal grate. Some people put a foam outer on it, but you don't also need the popper stopper in front of the foam if you do that. You essentially have three filters here.

What mixer/interface are you using? I’m running my SM58 into my Scarlett solo and the volume levels are unacceptable with cranking the gain and allowing way too much background noise.

Does it have an on off switch? I want to pick it up to use it during my DJ set. I'd like it to be off when I'm not using & have it set down. Also since it does not come with a chord, which one do you recommend?

SM58 is all dependent on the interface in my opinion. Not to mention how durable they are.
