Thank you so much. You saved me having to return the extension tubes I received today. I couldn’t figure out how they worked. You really helped me. I have since gotten pictures of beautiful flowers and a frog. I will continue to watch your videos. Thank you.

I just purchased a set of macro tubes and have not had much of a chance to use them. After seeing this video I am ready to go for it. Thanks for the vlog.

Great video. I've been salivating over the prospect of buying a macro lens for a while now and was building up to a purchase (possibly the Tamron 90 mm f2.8 or the Laowa 100mm 2 x1 macro) but the coronavirus pandemic, and its resulting economic consequences, have blown my plans out of the window. I think extension tubes are the way to go, at least until better times, when I can again think about buying a dedicated macro lens.

I visited Brisbane 5 years ago.
From an American's point of view it is paradise!

This is just what I was after. I saw you use these in an earlier video explaining what they do, and I have an interest in macro photography. On holiday in Cornwall last week, I wandered into a charity shop that had a cabinet full of camera bits. (None of the lenses fitted my canon EF-S) but I found a set of macro extension tubes that fitted my camera, for 5 quid. I was well chuffed.

Finally, an explanation of what extension tubes do and how they work. Looks like an inexpensive way to try macro photogophy be fore buying an expensive lens.

I have a tamron 75/300 with macro and what you have just showed me now that function on the lens all makes sense, as when in macro the lens extends to the full length and locks, I have also purchased a light ring which I will now put to the test, many thanks 🇬🇧

The use of extension tubes effectively reduced teh amount of light which hits the image plane. Most modern cameras can compensate for this pretty easily but some older ones cannot. Worth keeping that in mind.
They are cheap though, which is great.
If you are looking at the Kenko ones online, not all of them are EF-S compatible so also watch out for that.

Good information, I’m finding a 50mm is the smallest lens that works for me, anything shorter you just have to be too close and there is a light problem, I’ve also had good luck with an old Canon FD 85mm f1.8, no need to mess with auto focus and you can be farther from the subject. These rings are a good way to use old FD lenses without auto focus and have the Aperture setting on the lens, just shoot in manual .
