GPS City is comparing the Garmin GPSMAP 64 Series against the GPSMAP 62 series to see of the similarities and differences. These two units are nearly identical from a physical standpoint, but most of the differences are in the internal features: the 64 offers a larger internal memory, will hold more waypoints, and features GLONASS, 250,000 preloaded geocaches, and wireless connectivity with Garmin apps (with the 64s or 64st).

the entire first half of your review could be "they look the same" instead of going through and listing how they both look identical, right?

I have seen no vids of peoples GPS with the relief shaded in. This is not always available and tricky to know how to apply it. Is anybody familiar with the problem I am referring to here, or is it that nobody either knows of it, or gives a shit. I find it immensely helpful to have all the appropriate info showing in an easy to see layout over shaded relief to make the elevation changes "pop" out.

I have a 62st, and I am looking to upgrade to a 64st if it is able to connect to tablets or smartphones to be used as an external gps like the Garmin GLO, or Bad Elf receivers and navigate using the appropriate aps.  My question, is it possible to connect to a GPS 64st and use it in that way?

Thanks for sharing the comparison. Brief,  crisp and well presented
