Postman Tips: What to do in Sarria

Our colleague Ángeles shows us around Sarria, a key point on the French Way. This town marks the 100 kilometers to Santiago de Compostela that pilgrims need to get the Compostela.

Entering the city through the “escalinata” staircase, the pilgrim finds the main street (Calle Mayor) where you can see emblematic monuments such as Church of Santa Mariña, the church of San Salvador, the remains of the Torre dos Batallóns and the convent of the Merced.

To rest after a long day, Ángeles recommends enjoying the many green areas that are in Sarria. You can’t leave without visiting the Malecón, O Chanto, Praza da Vila and Ponte da Áspera. To regain strength, the city has several restaurants to taste the local cuisine, and suitable for all budgets.
