I wrote and recorded this song today totally not even realizing it was memorial day, and I thought I'd post it today for the occasion because it felt topical. This will be on my next album "Black Hound" which I will release as soon as it's ready.

You did a really awesome job at creating very emotionally charged imagry with your lyrics, very moving Cobb.

That ending part is so sad. I've worked in geriatrics my whole life and hearing all the stories or their times and what they went through, it's sad to see the way the country is falling apart now. It's like they all died for nothing.

Lyrics for the leeches...
#leechlife

He sits in his chair in the damp musty air
And the scent is nonenal and meek
He looks towards the spot where his wife used to knit,
As they sat and watched cable tv
Plays chess with himself and he sips his 12oz of his finest store-bought Daquiri
He plays someone else but his days of poor health
Only hear from his kids once a week
So he looks towards the table at his old picture frames
And he sees his old friends and remembers when they sang

Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
He ain't gonna jump no more

Goes to the closet and pulls out his boxes of medals and army fatigues
He reads through his letters
All inked smudged and scattered about conditions in Normandy
Found pictures of war-time and pictures of peace-time
And plenty of all magazines
And under some bags hid a group of dog tags that belonged to his old company
Placed in his hand, he read out the name
Of an old friend he lost long before his old age

Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
He ain't gonna jump no more

The days blend together and his health won't get better
But his mind sees the world like a child
All of his prospects and material objects don't act as they used to beguile
The clock has no power
There's no use for its hours
As it sits as a slumbering dial
He drifts off to dream
But his mind is at ease as he hears several voices compiled
Sees several faces he almost forgot
And he takes his first step and the choir takes off

Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
Gory, gory what a hell of a way to die
He ain't gonna jump no more

And then nowadays I am so upset
Its just the things we did
And the things we fought for
And the boys that died for it
Its all going down the drain
Our country's going to hell in a hand basket
We haven't got the country we had when I was raised
Not at all
Nobody will have the fun I had
Nobody will have the opportunity I had
This just is not the same
That's not what-
That's not what they died for

I think this might be the best piece you've ever done. I expected it but I still felt physical shock at the choir. BEATIFUL
