Your life is never the same once you get chickens. They actually require a nominal amount of work and we get to eat the eggs and the chicken, when the time comes. use a paper coffee filter instead of a lid, put the band around the coffee filter "skirt." That works well with Kefir too

I’m late to this party but I started fermenting some feed and gave them one feeding of dry and one of fermented. Now they ignore the dry feed and pester me for the fermented stuff 😱 These girls are so spoiled 😂🐓🤣

Love this thanks! I've been fermenting my feed the past few months that I've had chickens and haven't been able to find much information about it till now. I just dumped a big scoop of organic feed pellets into a big bucket, filled with water, added a bit of my kimchi/sauerkraut/ferment juice as starter, left it outside with lid with holes, and it turned out great! Smells sweet and bubbles when it's ready. The chickies love it! I just keep adding to that bucket to keep it going. A general fermenting tip - sometimes white stuff will form on top which is a type of yeast, it's not harmful, just skim it away.
