Former U.S. president Barack Obama criticized Black voters who are thinking of sitting out the 2024 election or voting for Donald Trump instead of Kamala Harris during remarks at a Harris campaign office on Thursday, saying it “shouldn't even be a question.”
Obama said that Harris, the Democratic nominee, “understands the struggles and pain and joy” of the Black community, while Trump “has a history of denigrating” Black men.“
"It's not acceptable," Obama said, adding, "Part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren't feeling the idea of having a woman as president."
In an NAACP poll in mid-September, over one quarter of younger Black men said they would support Trump in the election.
