Great info and a good brief description for the basics. I wish they would have made the nd/cpl combo ones

Thanks so much for this video. Explains in layman's terms what nd filters are used for 👍👍

I do worry about the stability of the Nano to use an ND1000. I guessI will know once my set arrives. It would be nice to have a set of ND PLs like Freewell makes for other drones.

Would just a 3pack of filters be enough? If so what numbers would you choose? I imagine a 64 would be on the list.

ND4 is 2 stops, not 1 stop. The ND number (4 in this case) is telling you by what factor the amount of light will be decreases (in this case, 4 times less light). Since one stop means halving the amount of light, ND4 represents 2 stops. Following the same pattern, ND8 is 3 stops because 2^3 = 8, you are halving the amount of light 3 times. You should add correction texts on top of your video since it will be confusing people.
The one you did get right is that ND1000 is 10 stops, because 2^10 = 1024 :)

Great video. Photography 101 would help any new drone videographer to try something new.

For what it's worth there are lots of pro's using no ND filters at all on the Evo 2 Pro getting stunning results. The E2P does have an adjustable aperture though. I've been using my Air 2s with no ND filters at all and on auto for most settings with good results too. Shooting bright horizons or sun reflecting water does change the dynamic though so things like that should be considered. There's a good video explaining how the 180 rule was something established during the good old analog days and how digital imaging is different enough to make the 180 rule not so written in stone.

As always a good and thought provoking video Henrik!

I think you got wrong there about f-Stops. If you use a ND4 filter it lets in just 25% of the amount of light equal to 2 f-stops of light reduction. Each time you double the number in the ND filter name, this equates to a 1 f-stop reduction in light hitting your camera’s sensor. ND filters acts like a camera Aperture, so you must use them on ALL drone during daytime for proper motion blur and reduce playback problems.

Remember this! Every time you double the ND filter number you reduce 1 f-Stop. Get your free print-out copy I have on any of my videos, it show exactly what ND filters to use in 30fps and 60fps.
