As a child, my parents had me raised on country and bluegrass music so as you can imagine, Dolly Parton is quite the idol to me. There’s a slowed down version of Dolly Parton singing Jolene that underlines her precision and faultless voice. Janet’s version has much the same effect. In every cover she brings to light a fresh aspect to a familiar classic and makes them uniquely hers. I can honestly say I’ve never heard a Janet Devlin song I haven’t loved. Fabulous!

I grew up with Dolly playing on the radio and have heard this song 1000 times. This is the first time I actually felt the desperation of the wife's pleas to Jolene. I cried during this song because it was like hearing it for the first time....full of emotion You took a classic song and brilliantly remade it from a fast rapid fire sing along song to an emotional plea from a desperate victim

Hauntingly beautiful..just as Dolly's voice (in her version) gives that underlying feeling of urgent desperation to the whole song, yours gives a broken-hearted desolation feeling throughout...hers is a woman who clearly thinks she is fighting a losing battle, but yours is one who already knows she's lost. most irish singers lose there accent a good amount when they sing, I love that Janet really pronounces with her accent when she sings, which is what makes her so unique
