Those are the nastiest samples I’ve heard since the early ’90s.

Thank you for this review. I just got a Glarry. A different model and nowhere in the instructions do they show you where to connect the sustain pedal. By watching your video, I was able to see where you put it and checked underneath mine and sure enough, there is a connection slot!

Wow. They literally used the General MIDI sounds verbatim. Not bad under your fingertips though!

My sampled Casio SK5’s piano sound was more convincing... Now seriously, you get what you pay

Glarry? THE f-
Okay, sure. I had no idea they made so many different instruments.
Thanks for reviewing it.

Sorry to say that I'm not very impressed. I've found free VSTs that sound better. This sounds like PC midi sounds. Even the piano sound itself sounds very thin.

Is this direct-out or miced from the internal speakers? There's a consistent distortion on almost every sound that I'd normally think was crappy speakers, but if it's direct I don't know what to say. I do think for the price that this isn't the worst thing in the world for kids, assuming the weighted action is decent. If they get good enough, you can always mute the internal sounds and MIDI it to a better-sounding module or VST.

Paolo, what fx better sounds (your preference) - Yamaha SPX90 or Roland DEP-5 ?

From the comments I suspect most of y'all were listening with your phone or through computer speakers. For the price, sub 400, it's pretty decent. The grand piano and the 70s moog sound were pretty good

does anyone know if this keyboard has the feel of a hammer action piano?

For budget it’s not horrible for the average user. I still prefer my digital baby grand Yamaha Clavinova CLP-465GP and my real Kawai Baby Grand acoustic Snow White edition piano.

The sounds are terrible, are the keys properly weighted at least?

Hi Paolo, Will you please recreate Cynthia " Endless Night" and other latin freestyle songs in a future video? Thanks for your videos.

FYI, the actual "tone generator" in this is a Dream chip, which you can find for €35 as a fully assembled 'wave blaster compatible' module, or about €12 for the bare chip itself. It's perfect for old MS-DOS games, but for anything else? Just no. This thing is clearly built down to a cost; I expect that in parts it probably costs less than a tenth of what the retail price is.

I totally appreciate that YouTube is a tough gig, and this was perhaps a paid promotion (although it doesn't say this anywhere), but this is a bit disconcerting. You seemed to skirt around the fact that the sound is crap, which is what you're all about! I admit that you didn't pass judgement on the audio per-se, but still... odd.

I would say that perhaps for the money, the actual action of the piano is nice, but I wouldn't be so sure of that either frankly. The build looks tacky too.

Surely for the money, you're better off investing in an older second hand keyboard with a brand name?

With that being said however, *if* the action is genuinely good, this might make a good MIDI controller, but at the current price even that seems a stretch.

I also can't leave without commenting on the brand... Garry? Larry? Why not both! I get that they are trying to make cheap affordable instruments for people, but they need to improve the quality.

Oh, Jesus the aliasing, my monitors are feeling it physically, in all honesty I've heard better general midi implementations on 90s sound cards. If it's really cheap in can be a nice learning tool for your kids, but probably not worth it.

Would be fine for the toy keyboard music genre.

They should have sampled a better grand piano or changed the amp speaker combo..
