East Germany doomed the Soviet Union. The poverty of other Eastern bloc countries could be explained away by the fact they were pretty economically backwards before communism was imposed upon them, but once a prosperous west European nation was split in two, and the communist half became so poor relative to its neighbour that they had to build a wall just to keep their own people from leaving - all the illusions of communist success were destroyed. Furthermore, the Soviets could not compete with both Western Europe and the US simultaneously, their only hope would have been to play the two off against each other. With part of Germany under Soviet occupation, West Germany would always be allied with the US.

The Baltic independence movement WAS peaceful. Gorbachev just didn't care what happened to his country or its states, he only cared about the people. Which, whille commendable, isn't how a leader should think, and this ultimately led to its collapse

Some of these kind of make sense but the one where the Baltics should have won their independence peacefully would have not prevented the collapse of the union and also even if the USA didn’t do the marshal plan the soviets would not benefit a lot since Europe at the time was heavily against the Soviets

And since 1930s in the massive hunger around Ukrainian ssr, maybe Belarusian ssr, and i think Kazakhstan ssr if it wouldn't happend, ussr might won ww2 right away but with the massive hunger, some of the soviet republics got in control of axis
