For anyone who loves this- you CAN learn it! Pedal steels rarely sell for less than $2, 000, but "lap steel" 6 or 8 string guitars can be had for $150. This is how all of us started out. If you find yourself playing lap steel a lot, then move up to pedal. Your skills learned playing lap will translate perfectly to pedal. Notice he did "bar bends", we do that on lap steel, and pro's like Buddy Emmons often used them even on pedal steel. And here's something cool, I own 2 "Universal 12 string" pedal steels with 7 pedals and 5 knee levers, but often pick my old beat up Morrell 8 string lap tuned C6 and jam for hours! Not enough steelers around anymore, get one for your kid's, they'll have a blast! And maybe be pedal steel pros someday.

Love the addition of those harmony notes that we don't hear in a "standard" rendition of this country classic .

There's just SOMETHING about having less of everything.

These old Sho Buds sound so incredible...
The pickups were magnificent.

Beautiful! And your use of bar bends tells me you started off on lap steel like so many of us.

Love your playing! Love the sound of Fingertips. Too bad we can't put 6 changes per string on them. If we could nobody would play anything else.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!

NOTHING sounds like an old Sho-Bud or Bigsby guitar...

Things seemed to get too complicated and "smooth" by the 1970s...

Great rendition, by the way!
