Production quality on these videos just jumped like 75% out of nowhere. It’s like you took the shorts we all love and expanded them into a full video but with the same level of polish as the shorts.

Love it

Adam I was an old time composer that got sidetracked by life. Your videos have inspired me to retake composition and songwriting again like never before. THANK YOU!!!

This video basically summarized 6 weeks of a Berklee College of Music Harmony class. I’ve been a full time composer for a few years now and this was a wonderful refresher. Gonna use some of these in my next compositions, thanks man. Your videos are always so groovy!!

Great video guys! Always inspiring :)
Fun fact about the name of the « Cush » chords:
In french, you pronounce « Cush » and we hear « couche ».
« Couche » that means « layer » as « Layers of chords » ou
« Couches d ‘accords »
… it suddenly makes even more sense as you add tonal layer on top of your root…
thanks a lot and keep on jazzin’ !

You guys have repeatedly reawakened the creative spirit of this 65 years young amateur musician!!! Where was this kind of non-intimidating style of teaching music when I was growing up? I truly love what Open Studio has created. Bless You and Love You Guys! 🙏🏾🥂❤️💯

The Debussy reference is well done and that modulation is my favorite motif in classical music …5:39 and 5:50 moments hit your soul

Minute 8-10 - and I got it! At last. The penny dropped at approx time stamp 8 30. Bing. I got it! Rushed to my piano and went into a playing trance, modal changing over stretches of music (I had previously been restricting them to one or two adventuring chords).
Mainly because I'm working on it right now, I think there's a fabulous cush chord game in Chopin's 3rd Scherzo, in the second main section, where a low and lush choral alternates with tinkling waterfalls, and it goes wandering through different harmonic pastures. But I might be wrong - it's a new word.
Incidentally, Claude rhymes (close enough) with Ford. Or at least it ought to, in my ears. Not insisting - if I'm not here to learn how to appreciate other ways of shaping sound beyond the familiar, then I've come to the wrong channel!

I shouldn't be laughing at this but... In this video Bob DeBoo is sitting, whereas we usually see him standing and playing upright bass. See, the name "DeBoo" sounds exactly like "debout", which is french for "standing". So seeing Bob sit to play electric bass in this video is a pretty funny sight for the french guy I am.
