2024 Jaguar F-Pace P400 Review / Classy & sporty but for how long?

Jaguar is set to become an all-electric luxury brand before the end of the decade. In 2024, they took a step closer to that goal by discontinuing the F-Type sports car. So with that in mind, is it worth considering an SUV like the 2024 Jaguar F-Pace P400 knowing that one day, it’ll be discontinued as well?

The 2024 F-Pace is available with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, a supercharged V8, and a turbocharged inline-6 like this P400 version. This inline-6 produces 395 hp & 406 lb-ft of torque (295 kW & 550 Nm) with a 0-100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds according to Jaguar. This is a fast responding and powerful feeling engine. From 2,000 rpms and onward, it pulls really hard right up to the redline at around 6,000 rpms.

For such a powerful and heavy SUV, the 2024 Jaguar F-Pace P400 is quite fuel efficient. It is officially rated for 12.6 L/100km (18.7 MPG) in a city and 9.4 L/100km (25 MPG) on a highway. I managed a respectable 11.3 L/100km (20.8 MPG) during my time with the Jaguar F-Pace 2024.

The 2024 Jaguar F-Pace P400 R-Dynamic starts at $76,400 CAD ($66,500 USD). That is a bit more expensive than the likes of the BMW X3 M40i but less expensive than the Genesis GV70 3.5T. This demo vehicle came equipped at $88,810 CAD ($76,700 USD) which, again, is slightly more expensive than the X3 M40i.

2017 6 cylinder S: Owned for almost a year. Great drive, not the most comfortable as you say you can feel the potholes. I have 22" wheels which don't help for a smooth ride but brilliant grip. Excellent acceleration and all round handling. No issues with the transmission at low speeds. MPG, I can't complain I've managed 29 mpg on a run, normally 20 to 24 ish. Love the styling and far more positives than negatives. I did buy a warranty, just in case. Only thing I feel that deserved more attention, it lacks places to put stuff like drinks, phone, wallet etc. Overall, I love it and yes, I would buy another! Can't believe what Jaguar are doing with their brand, it's a shame. Full electric adventure won't work out.

I have never experienced the low speed Trans shifting issue you report, no complaints whatsoever with this transmission.

You can use the diamond button on steering wheel as a shortcut to turn off start-stop feature

I have the same issue with the slow speed on the gearbox. Stopping at traffic lights and give ways it’s very noticeable. Other than that though the ride is good

Should inline 6 be more reliable than p250? Drove the p400 and genuinely liked it.

All that can be said for Jaguar these days is, "what a shame".

Jaguar's only 6 cylinder car has intrusive ASS. I had not heard Jag was going out of business, too bad. I wanted one. A real one, like they used to make.

Going full EV is a mistake. EVs are not as successful as all these companies envisioned. The range on those things is not good enough to replace petrol cars
