Prince of Persia in VR. WHY?! - Prince of Persia The Dagger of Time

I don't know who asked for this but this is the most unusual game that has been announced in the last two years in my opinion. So many people wanted a new Prince of Persia game and I think judging by the reaction to the trailer, nobody quite wanted it like this. Not as a co-op VR title.

How do you feel about the VR implementation? Do you think it can work? Or will it flop?

Edit: commenter Colin Parnell has made a good point with regards to arcade and VR gaming centres as a business incentive for Ubisoft's decision. I would recommend reading through both his comment and my response, as this was something I had not thought about during the video.

I completely agree with you mate. Just imagine if we got a great Soft Reboot / Continuation like in God Of War 2018. An older mature yet still badass af Prince Dastan it would sell so well. That's just wishful thinking at this point since micro transactions creed is their go too. Bring back POP.

Ubisoft is checking that is the fanbase of pop still present.
If this vr game becomes a success they wil surely bring a pc/ps5 game of pop.
This vr game needs to succeed.
If this game fails then there will be no pop ever. Plz i request all pop fans to go and play it

Ubisoft have always underestimated PoP fans, they aren't interested in a new Prince, they know that AC is their gold mine.

You asked Why? So just to give you some reasons from a business perspective, and another point of view (VR arcade owner). Ubisoft is a business designed to make money, doing this by building brands. There are very many VR locations like us, with more opening all the time (even with COVID). These Ubisoft VR titles (including Assassins Creed) are very appealing to "normal" people (ie non POP fans) like me, and can actually encourage non-gamers of POP to play these titles as a bonus. They also make money continuously, not a one hit, as these titles are rented to us. It's not a snub to gamers and POP fans. Would you rant about every movie that comes out that you don't like? I would hope not. I would hope that you would simply not go to see them. I love Ubisoft VR titles and our customers do too, in large numbers. They are extremely high quality titles, in a market that has not been saturated yet. They are the dominant company in the VR multiplayer escape room genre, known for their quality. I hope that helps you understand the reason this excellent game exists. VR technology will make normal gaming look like black and white CRT TVs in the long term future. This is where companies like Ubisoft have vision for the future, not so much today. They have pretty well got flat gaming sorted at Ubisoft I think with their other titles.
