Senegal turns to floating power stations amid energy crisis

Senegal is turning to floating power stations in response to an energy crisis.
The national power company, Senelec, has been struggling to provide electricity to people.
With Senegal’s electricity price among the highest in the world, many people cannot afford the electricity bills.
Al Jazeera's Nicolas Haque has more from Senegal’s capital Dakar.

There's a reason why both and big industry don't want us to be able to create our own electricity whether it's with solar panels wind or water turbines. It's because then they can't dictate the price of energy or in the case of government, they can't give lucrative contracts to their rich friends if creating our own power was easy and affordable.

If I remember correctly Akon is planning on building a modern city in Senegal, better he looks into power supply to his country, he could look into Solar and battery technology. And use his fame to get the Senegalese to crowdfund, that's what the Ethiopians did for their $4.5 billion Dam.
