In this message, we start in Chapter 11 as we look at the Vivid Description of Judgment at the Rejection of the Messiah. The prophet Zechariah gives us one of the most Vivid descriptions in the Bible of judgement as the Lord pronounces judgement from the north in Lebanon all the way to the lowlands of the Jordan valley. There are pictures drawn here between the strong trees of Lebanon and Bashan with those so called “strong leaders” in 1st century Israel who were selling their sheep out for slaughter. It is important to understand the context of this judgement and when this would happen and therefore it is to be placed in the 1st century and leading on to the destruction of the temple in AD 70, as Jesus our Lord predicted. The second portion is that final judgement which comes from the north through those that war against the Messiah at His second coming. The personification of this text is not to be missed and it is then made clear that the Messiah was sent by God almighty to feed the flock. It is here where Jesus fed the flock with love and care and compassion and yet was still rejected by the elders, the scribes, and the chief priests. It involved the different parties of the Pharisees, the sadducees, and the herodians. They were according to this portion selling out their sheep and having no pity on them and that's why the Lord would not have pity on them anymore. He would judge, and this happened when the Romans conquered Jerusalem and flattened the temple. They wanted the roman king and the lord gave them their king.
