I am a climber and i mainly lift to get stronger for climbing. If my forearms are a limiting factor in any exercise, i will struggle at the wall. That doesn't mean everybody should train like I do. Do what aligns with your goals! 💪

You don't need straps if you don't want to use them, but you are training around what your forearms can handle and you aren't gonna lift anything heavy and need to do many reps - for hypertrophy this is limiting and you can't train for strength this way. You don't need to buy anything crazy either. You can use leather, buy in bulk, recut one if needed. It's harder to train like that, because you are going to have to make very smart progression decisions.

It makes pulling from the elbow instead of the hand easier, which is a big part of getting more focused in the back instead of biceps.
