Every role Arkin played showed his genius. My favorites were "Catch-22, " "The In-laws, " and "And So I Married An Axe Murderer."

Absolutely the greatest comic genius of his generation. I still repeat his best lines from thirty to forty years ago: "Milo, people don't eat cotton" (CATCH-22); "You were involved in the Bay of Pigs?" Peter Falk: Involved? That was my idea. (THE IN-LAWS); "Of course I'm alienated. I'm an alien". (SIMON); "Listen to the voice of experience, Wayne. F--K a lot of women. Not one. A lot". (LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE). The comic sun is gone but the sunshine remains.
