Tbh I get your point. I also don't really connect to people on the show but the comments are right and it is a spectrum.

We should just get more perspectives in and include autistic people that are working in positions of power.

Hey im autistic and i dont do that.. i kinda more like the first half. My partner also has autism.. and im his first relationship.. and he was the same as the beginning too... autism is a spectrum man.. i dont really like love kn the spectrum.. but autistic people vary when it comes to social things like that..

It’s a spectrum. As someone who is autistic as well, don’t be ablest like this. It’s honestly really gross

But autism is a spectrum, right? So you’re just on a different end than the people on the show.

As an autistic I feel I am mostly the first one with some of the energy of the second one all at the same time.
✨ *Spectrum* ✨

I’m a neurodivergent person who is dating someone with autism. He doesn’t fit the main autism stereotype and you may not even assume he’s autistic. I also have a cousin with autism who is nonverbal and requires special care. They are both wonderful humans who are deserving of love and who will both view the world and the idea of love differently. While I think infantilizing those with autism is weird and creepy. I think it’s important to acknowledge that there are many different kinds of people with autism and not every experience is going to be the same.

It’s almost as if it’s a fucking spectrum.

It's literally called Love on the Spectrum, because Autism is on a spectrum. They don't all act the same way.🤦🏻 THIS is why terms like high functioning and low functioning need to exist.

Me talking about love: well there’s familial love, intimate love, platonic…

Yeah I get very technical with the terms for different types of love. I like to be clear which love we talking about because all of them have very different contexts. Like you don’t throw water balloons at your parents as a sign of your love but as a sign of your love for your sibling they’re getting drenched from those damn water balloons. 😂

I think some people don’t follow what’s happening here.

I'm autistic as well and this video is pretty ableist, I'm more like the former ( monotone voice, "childlike" etc) autism is a spectrum, not all of us are the same, you can dislike the show and criticize it but this video is just wrong.

Seems a bit insensitive considering theres a spectrum and some people have less functioning types of autism

This is so ignorant and honestly offensive. Its like u don't know autism is a spectrum, and people are different. Heck non autistic ppl also are different and that's ok! Don't stereotype

not that autistic people arent often infantilized (sometimes by themselves) but jfk so many high functioning autistic people love to act like they're the Default Autistic and ignore that people with severe verbal issues exist. The spectrum exists only enough for people who can pass as normal to be considered autistic and then conveniently ignore everyone for whom it is a more debilitating disability (yes i know its passe to compare disabilities but sorry i do think theres a difference between a picky eater who is socially awkward that can live alone and hold down a job vs a 20 year old who cant talk!). I almost want to reject my own diagnosis because I'm tired of people acting like the poster here. Get outta here with that actual autistic people shit

I have not watched "Love on the spectrum" so I don't know how they are portrayed on there, but I have seen some of the contestants on YouTube and they seem like really cool people with different struggles that could make relationships difficult. 😁

I get how TV Shows can over-dramatise both characters and real people for the sake of views. I get how it can be editted to only show what the TV network wants to show and not every aspect of who the person is. So that is annoying.

I agree that making fun of TV Shows that only show selective experiences of people's lives can be bad for true representation. I see that you are probably not trying to make fun of the people on the show, but on how the show is portraying them.

Also the Captain America joke was funny. 😂

and I don't like how people are using functioning labels in the comments.

I would like respectfully say that I don’t have autism but i have friends that do and I don’t think this is very nice to be saying.
