This mower( I found out after I fixed it) had been worked on before. Interesting lessons for me.

Oh, yes... It's so nice to see one like that (and no smoke). Kudos for getting it running again, Mr. Pender.

I had one left behind by a tenant that would barely fire. The automatic choke engines have some sort of thermal wax plug thingies on the carburetor that cost maybe twelve bucks. In addition, the carbs have all kinds of gaskets and thimagagoos .
The solution for being able to assemble a Honda carb is to borrow or buy studs from a horizontal Honda engine and the carb is easy to assemble and test properly.
Those old original Honda carbs are good ones if you understand the auto chokes and how to easily assemble them with the assembly studs which are available as a set or just get them from an old broken horizontal engine. I know this doesn't apply to this project, but I am sure that Bruce has or will work on one of the auto chokes some day. Like the channel . God bless

You did it again, provided me with more possible solutions to my immediate problem. A Kohler 6.75 which ran poorly when I retrieved it, at the shop not at all, arrgh. Thanks for the new tips. Narragansett Bay

This mower is a beast. Someone tossed one out 10 yrs ago and left a sign that it wouldn't start. I rescued him and found the only thing wrong was the supply valve from the tank was shut off! Best mower I have ever owned and POWERFUL.

Nice to see a honda 214 right there in good shape still

Odd to see that much wrong with a Honda but it sounds pretty sweet now. By the looks of that shroud, it was a well used machine so it is okay that it needs a tune-up. Thanks Bruce.

How's she goin'? Nice fix Bruce. Once again you show that if you aren't satisfied you won't let it go. I like to see that!! Interesting when you state that new carbs run leaner. I installed a new carb on my new to me MTD and it surges terrible at high speed. I wonder if I were to increase the main jet if that would help. We'll see. Thanks for posting this and Happy Thanksgiving to you and Mrs P!!!

Out of all the channels I watch on small engine repair, you seem to be the one tech that bends, tweaks, stretches, compresses, attachment points that forces you to resort to changing the intended design. You eventually get it to run, but I don't think I would have much confidence in your approach and long term product reliability. Changing the jet size here is case in point.

Hi Bruce. Not going to give you heck about the prop stick. I was wondering how it would have gotten so out of wack but then you said its had work done to it a couple times. That leads to to many fingers fiddling with it eh. She runs smooth now that the master worked on it

K100 gas treatment is great for water in gas issues. I use it in all my equipment, Your buddy Donyboy73 recommends it as well, thanks for the vid👍👍

Can anyone help me with where the breather tube off the air filter housing connects to on the engine side? Mines come undone and i can't for the life of me figure out where it connects. I've got the 1986 HR214 and it still runs great but when i engage the the blade it kills. Usually i just clean the carburator and it's fine but i just noticed the breather tube isn't connected to wherever it's supposed to be.

Hi Bruce from wpg. I own five of those mowers best in the world!! they are susceptible to the idle jet being plugged easily. Also I noticed the cable was off at the handle not sure if that would do it. cheers brother!

well in the last 2 days ive ran into 2 small engine i cant seem to fix in fact one i made worse..i got them well the leaf blower for free so theyre not customers..i dont do this for money not yet anyway..i did a couple and both are ok and sold soem ive repaired i do it as a hobby . eveyr lawnmower ive got to work but this leaf blower for wahatever reason doesnt want to turn over i cleaned the carberator and everything and still nothing..if i cake it in starter fluid it'll turn over and die...i cleaned it pretty good i think but maybe i overlooked soemthing..i hate to throw it out seeing as how it worked before when i picked it up but the pull start messed up and im thinking thats why the guy threw it out so i manage to fix that..i think anyway..it pulls but theres a bit of slack after the pull it doesnt coil up fully idk if thats a problem..im new to this so im still learning..teh other one is a weed eater i bought for 15 bucks just to mess around and test my skills and it pulls good but doesnt start either the gas tank i think is too dirty and i cant get in there to clean it out and to buy parts it just seems like it'd be a waste not worht the money but maybe i will just to prove i can fix it idk. there'll be others tbh these are the first 2 i ran into that i havent been able to fix. im still new i just have a feeling im overlooking soemthing or soemthing...so im about 8 for 10
