That’s a lot of science words to say “paralyzed by fear.”

I was at Busch Gardens Tampa once, watching the Tigers be fed. They were somewhat fighting about it, and we were outside one of the fences within about 15 ft of them. That sound went RIGHT THROUGH my chest, and literally made me jump and then shake. It was TERRIFYING. All I could think about was what must it be like for their prey??? I'll never forget that experience, because it really shocked me.

This growling and roar is not for hunting prey. It is to warn competitors and scare them. Tiger will never roar at the prey, it will quietly do it's hunt.

Tigers can roar louder than wolves howling all day and all night!

As if tigers weren't badass enough, they're the true Kings (& queens) of the Jungle.

I have raised tigers from the time their mother cuts the cord to fully grown adults. The roar of a tiger is MAGNIFICENT. And that doesn't do it justice. There was a female that came to the sanctuary from a circus and she HATED people. She would roar and it was frightening. But we had a massive male that weighed in at 608 lbs. He would roar at you and it was outright horrifying. The bass vibration could be felt inside your chest. Even though he was in a very, very sturdy cage, it was still a bit unnerving.

Once we were using a long piece one inch butelene pipe to unstop a drain on his pond. He was curious what we were doing and he got in the water to get a better look. The piece of pipe broke through the surface of the water right in front of him. 😅😂 He jumped back then slapped it a few times then casually moved his head by the piece of pipe. A few seconds later i saw something black laying on the ground and I'm trying to figure out what it is and then I saw It. It was about 6 inches of the pipe we were using. It was such a fluid motion and seemed so easy for him that I didn't realize he had bitten off a piece of it. They are apex predators for sure and they are MAGNIFICENT

I was paralysed listening to that roar on my phone screen. I’ll die of a heart attack in real life.

I've experienced this in a zoo, the tiger was just growling/snarling continuously a bit louder than usual but that sound shook me everytime and my heart literally trembled inside and i froze a few seconds..😵. I believe I ll never be hearing a sound like that again, but it sure was a once in a lifetime experience...A sheer raw penetrating power dat hits d core..just awesome and i couldn't help but just surrender like a prey..😑😵, after a while i came near d cage to see it wandering here and there making d same noise again.. it looked a bit irritated as it was hungry or thirsty.

The fourth tiger shown is Amanda tigress. One of the oldest tigers at Big Cat Rescue. She was sweet but fierce. I loved her so much!!❤

The only part of me that would not be paralysed, at the sight of a charging, roaring tiger, would be my bowels.

I can confirm this. I was at a zoo on a feeding tour once and when the lions where fed they started roaring at each other as they competed for food (there was enough for all btw, they where just being dramatic.) those roars kind of sent a shock through my body. Even though they where behind a fence it was like thousands of years of genetic memory screaming at me that you have to run from that noise.
