"GUARANTEED Pass Your Road Test "First Time" + the Defensive & Winter Driving Smart Courses

Stop back approximately 1 vehicle length when stopping in traffic. Being able to see the tires of the vehicle in front making contact with the pavement is 1 vehicle length. This is a “must-have” technique for a driver’s test. And it will give you space to move up if the vehicle behind isn't coming to a stop. You can flash your brake lights and move up, which may alert the driver behind and give them time to stop. This strategy will prevent you being rear-ended.

Good luck on your road test.

A good general rule of driving is to always drive with an exit strategy in case of unexpected situations

It's typical of impatient immature drivers to follow too closely until it costs them something.

Did this and I was able to barley hit the person or front. Was rear-end pretty bad today and took the full force of the impact. Ppl in front of me weren't injured at all but me and my sister had to go to the hospital for just in case for whiplash.

During a deposition, I actually answered this exact question. The client had said she was stopped with me and the two other cars that she damaged however, I look at my stuff every five seconds mirrors and the car that was in front of me. I was far enough away from him to where I could see their license plate and everything and it took that long for her to push me into them while my foot was on the break. She said she was with the rest of us and I said no she wasn’t during the deposition because when I looked at my river mirror, she wasn’t there a few minutes prior to being hit. I said so yeah I disagree with your client statement she was not there and thought the light turned green and just went otherwise it would’ve just kind of popped me and maybe moved me a little bit but probably not because my foot was on the break and she moved me while my foot was on the break into another vehicle.

Yes because most cars fly so it’s critical that they must stay on the pavement like Bro what

Where else would the tires be? Besides making contact with the pavement? Because if one of the tires is on the sidewalk, I’m driving around that the car.

Are you are you supposed to be constantly watching behind you for a fast coming car?

Yes that's called the space cushion, bus drivers know this

Plus if you get rear ended and hit the car in front of you, it’s your fault for hitting the other car cause you were too close!

How much space do you give? I go up to where I can just still see the tyres, but your view here seems to be much further back
