Is this the Most POWERFUL Amplifier for DIY? It seems like DIY amplifiers are continuing to get better and better everyday. Almost all of them have bluetooth 5.0, aux in and the works. But only a few amplifier are powerful enough to transform into an amplifier that works for your project. Want a 2.1 amplifier? No problem! Want to design a two way bookshelf speaker set without any physical crossover components? No problem again! This amplifier might just be able to do it all. In fact, it might change how you build and design speakers.THis is why it might just be the most powerful amplifier for DIY.

Quick tip for those of us elsewhere in the world. The sure/wondom boards are the same things and are generally cheaper. Dayton is a rebrand. Thanks for bringing these boards to everyone's attention Nick! Hopefully it ups the quality of everyone's DIY builds!

DSP is now so powerful, accessible and affordable that it should be a no brainer for DIYers. DSP active multiamping makes high end pro audio performance available to the masses.... provided one is willing and able to learn how to use it to best effect. I'm using it to achieve the best sound quality I've ever experienced or even thought possible, from very affordable drivers.

This is exactly the information I was looking for. I would say that your video has inspired me to experiment with a DIY solution to this problem: I am an aging ham radio operator. My hearing is shot, and ham radios have notoriously poor audio systems. That combination really impacts my enjoyment of ham radio. There is a turnkey commercial solution, a one-channel 10-watt 4-inch DSP speaker that is available for $220 US. I may buy one just to determine if it helps me. If it does, then my other radios would be candidates for a DIY project. Thanks again.

This is a dope amp for diy guys it takes the headache and skill out of designing passive crossovers and gives you a ton of flexibility. Great video as always Nick

This is really cool. Been literally waiting for someone to make video on this board. You definitely got to make a 2.1 or 4 way speaker project using these. Like the your boombox project. Considering this outputs 400 watts, it should be a super powerful system.

I’ve been obsessed with the idea of making my own speakers for yearrrrs. Have watched countless videos about building them. But the thing is, the more I watch, the more it seems to become a very daunting undertaking, it seems like as soon as I think I have a good understanding, then then some new person peels back another layer that’s even more complex and nuanced. Used to think eh I can just slap some plywood together cut a whole and stick a speaker in. Now obviously I’m embarrassed to ever even let that cross my mind lol but I also now feel intimidated by the project I want to do because I know when I get it done, using all the knowledge I have. I’m going to end up seeing a video that’s similar to my project and mines going to be trash in comparison. And I’ll feel like I’ve wasted my time… however, I’ve been watching more of your videos recently and they’re giving me a lot of insight and motivation to just say fuck it and do it. I’m just going to start with some small computer speakers and see how it goes. Great content btw lol

My plan is to link two of these boards and use one each for a three way cabinet and a subwoofer. One channel for the midbass and one channel shared by the mid and tweeter, two channels bridged for the satellite Sub. So a 2.2 using two amps. Very close now to pulling the trigger. Probably a Christmas/Birthday gift to myself.

I’m a broke college student and I have a CNC and I’m going to make the ultimate party boom box using FaitalPRO 8FE200 8” woofers, morel CAT 378 horn tweeters, and a Dayton ultimax 8. I just finished the design and have to touch it up tomorrow and hopefully I can start machining next week.

I’m using two 36v 10a power supplies for two KAB 4100 boards.

Each woofer and tweeter gets its own DSP and amp channel, and the sub will get an entire board running in dual bridged mode for 400w total. Already with 50w on the faitals they show 110db on WinISD. This is going to be nuts 🥜. My simulations show the sub can hit 112db at 40hz which is perfect. Can’t wait. Just bought everything today.

I was thinking about making a YouTube video about it but I’m not sure where to start.

I’ve been looking at this board and i’ve read a number of reviews saying that they fail fairly often. I’ve seen several restocks/returns of this unit so I have not pulled the trigger.
I built a few “boom boxes” with the shure chip amps and they have huge power when you give them the proper power supply or battery pack.

The dsp options with this unit are impressive, I hope Dayton will continue developing more of these boards, maybe a dedicated wireless lfe channel that’s 2 ohm stable?
Thanks for the video!

Looks great, thanks! So many applications for this. I was just braingineering a passive/active (Bluetooth possibly) speaker with a full range driver.

A ps audio fr30 clone would be a pretty interesting project since parts express Carries similar drivers to the planars they use

Thanks for the info. I saw these at PE (sold out...) I've been looking to make an active 3 way studio monitor type speaker.

What I cannot find is a demo program for active three way speakers with one of these in each box. Is there such a thing available?
