Lenovo T440 - Best budget laptop for students ?

Is the Lenovo T440 the best budget laptop for students? It's certainly a great price and once you install Windows 10 or Linux on it, it's a stable laptop with a comfortable keyboard. The trackpad can be a bit unresponsive at times but this laptop is a bargain at under $200 Canadian

The other thing about the T440 you didn’t mention is that if can easily and cheaply be upgraded.

The Lenovo T440 outshines newer laptops that cost hundreds and is much more reliable and durable. To use the word "crappy" in any description of the T440 is an insult to this legendary workhorse of a machine.
I also have seen many laptops in my 30 years of computer repair. Most do not live up to their claims. They are flimsy, made cheap and are EXPENSIVE! Touch screens are for tablets not laptops, so don't waste your hard earned money on a touch screen. It is a shame that today's consumers are duped into buying...might I say, newer CRAPPY laptops that have short life spans.


Remember this little tidbit...A pre-owned laptop is like a pre- owned car. Why spend a fortune for the latest model when you can acquire an older model with all the same bells and whistles for less.

I never use the trackpad to select. Just use a two finger tap to "right click". No need to depress the pad. Also the case and keyboard are practically indestructible.

I have the T440p which I assume has the same trackpad. I hate how deep the click is on the trackpad(I think everyone does) however I don't have that unresponsiveness that you have. No issue at all accurately moving the cursor no matter what part of the pad I use. I think the one in this video may be faulty. The top layer of the pad is just a sticker and can wear away overtime and become unresponsive.

- Does it have extra RAM slot? I have 4GB RAM installed in it. I want to add another 4GB RAM. Is it possible?
- Can we add two hard drives? It doesn't have CD Rom.

Love everything about the laptop, except for the display... I'm not too sure if it's just me but, sadly the font of the laptop is way too small, and yes, I've tried making it bigger, but however, it only affects the font in apps like Google Chrome, I just want to know if changing my operating system to an older version like windows 8 will help with this matter, as it is rather irritating and very disappointing, love lenovo laptops though!
