Watch this before come to Hoi An? Let see, you visited the city for a few hours, you did no research on what the city has to offer, you did no research on the city history, and then to declare it's overated. Dont do an informative video if you dint have any information. Just saying.

It’s so refreshing to have a different point of view. I don’t agree with everything but I’m not a sheep who will listen to one guy online like all the haters on here seem to think ppl do. For every 10 videos that are an advertisement it’s nice to see one talking about negatives. Keep it up don’t listen to these sensitive ppl in the comments

Hoi An is not overrated it just doesn't suit your taste.

I went last September and felt the same, vendors made me crazy, from 16PM buses full of tourists arrive in town and madness starts, Disneyland situation, cannot walk, we went back to the hotel quickly

What is the point of this video if you didn’t show what it’s like at night???😩

Was in Hoi An back in September and my experience was a different one.

I didn’t find the vendors to be overly aggressive (Cartagena, Colombia vendors are aggressive). I simply never broke stride and simply said “Thank you”, and kept walking. Didn’t find many that actually came up to me.

There’s not a lot of stuff to do there. That part is true. That part where you were in is definitely a lot of tourists and all of the temples do charge. That area that you were in...where all the clothing vendors and other vendors is not all of Hoi An. Once you leave that area, you get a lot more of the authentic Vietnamese feel.

The nightlife in Hoi An is nice, but it’s not a “party” place. It’s a cool, laid back vibe...where not a lot of people bother you. I personally liked Hoi An. Got some clothes made there and will definitely return.

Use your imagination. Hire a bike, cycle the rice paddies, go to the beach and swim. Get out of the tourist ghetto. Learn how to travel.

Ugh. 🙄 about Ba Na Hills, apparently it didn’t cross your mind that maaaayybe it was geared towards the locals who want to see “something like Europe” and it’s the closest thing they can get to enjoy coz not every local can afford to go to Europe. I understand that YOU didn’t want to see European-copied sites in Vietnam, but then if you did your research you would’ve known it wasn’t for you. It wasn’t intended for YOUR kind of traveler. But not every site in a country is geared towards foreigners, some are for locals’ enjoyment.

Hoi an at night is a lot cooler, night market and lighting floating lanterns on the river while on a boat.

The point of vaccination is for people’s interest. I wouldn’t suggest this for an active “family” vacation… I’d go there for the chill, relax, educational and shopping vacation! Know what you want to do, before you down grade a place! That place WAS NOY FOR YOU!! BUT 100% for me and my daughter (adult)!

Obviously if there are no locals in the old town then there must be places where they hang out, but you didn’t bothered to do your research. Just less than 5 mins away from the old town is tiger market. Buzzing with locals and tons of road side hawkers and stalls. Had the best salt coffee from an unassuming push cart. So don’t complain because you are ignorant

Currently in Hoi An and loving it. Yes, lots of shopping and vendors can be a little pushy but we don’t find it bad. Love the quaintness of all the lanterns at night. Too busy and touristy mid day. Much fewer tourists in the morning and evening when all the day trippers aren’t there.

Yeah Hoi An is like a 1 day and 1 night and the rest in Da Nang

I think a very touristy place can be a great spot to start exploring a country you've never been to before. There are more English speakers, which is nice if you need help. It looks like a beautiful city. Often the tour guides are a great source of information on where to go next to get a more authentic Vietnamese experience 😊.

Not Vietnamese so Im not offended by the shade. As a non-local, I appreciate an honest perspective. Have heard good things about Hoi An though from other tourists so I'd probably still visit Hoi An at some point. But definitely appreciate different perspectives about the place.
