The updated Jeep Wrangler was recently launched in South Africa and Jacob Moshokoa tagged along for the ride. The changes are numerous, with the most significant being the all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol 4-cylinder which is punchier yet less thirsty than the ancient Pentastar V6.

In this video Jacob unpacks the Jeep legacy and shares some highlights from driving through some spectacular scenery of the Western Cape. He also explains the differences between Sahara and Rubicon. Is there still a place for old-school like a Jeep Wrangler in 2025?

Hello Jacob, you are such a character. I love your humour and presenting style. You have improved significantly in terms of comfortability and delivery of information, you are brilliant. When talking about the ancient V6 engine they had, was it not a 3.6? I had one back in the day and dont remember a 3.0L offered with these version. I stamd to be corrected.

Whenever you guys introduce a new American/European product, I always go to your app and compare it to Chinese vehicles. As powerful looking as it it, an RSA economy would force someone to save their R350k and go for the Tank 300 to get the same if not better experience. 🤔

The jeep its unique one of it's kind no other car out there in its platform. They should bring more engine variation especially the diesel 2.L engine. Plus with the one touch sky roof it's dope

Can confirm, driving your Wrangler without doors and roof is quite a fun experience. Decent performance boost too from the weight reduction 😏

Hey Jacob, you are not supposed to use hazard lights whilst driving - the difficulty to activate them is to dissuade drivers from using hazards willy-nilly!

I thought and HOPED that the fuel consumption would be far better with the 2.0T 4 cylinder. BUT seems I was doing some wishful thinking. That's horrible. Might as well go for 3.6 V6

I definitely would not agree with your comment that Jeep is 'thriving'. In fact Jeep is in massive trouble right now, their build quality is absolutely crap (plastic parts that should be metal, falling off the car etc). Stellantis is even reviewing Jeep's future viability given how badly things are going for it. So yeah definitely not thriving. Barely even surviving, in fact.

I’d rather buy the Grenadier if I had that cash

I don't think facelift or not is going to impact anything. People would just modify their old Jeeps to make it look better than the newer one.

Tbh waiting for Mahindra Thar to hit SA.
