What is Intervertebral Disk Disease(IVDD) in Dogs?

Показать описание
IVDD can be described as a slipped disk, ruptured disk, or bulging disk, depending on the type of damage that occurs. If a disk swells or ruptures, it may strike or compress the spinal cord, affecting an animal’s ability to walk.

If only I could afford $8000-9000 surgery with Dr Wang 😔 prices are so unfair, that means only rich people can get their dog back to normal life. Sad truth of life

my dog was diagnosed with this and the vet had recommended to put him down bc he was suffering, while we decided I purchased doggy advil from petco, and he started walking better and stopped screaming and now he’s completely healthy since we’ve been giving him those pills

Stage 1 or 2 IVDD, Friskys wet cat food mixed in drinking water throughout the day works.

My dog was diagnosed with ivdd yesterday on thanksgiving. We took him into the animal emergency room because he wouldn’t stop whimpering and crying. The vet recommended the medication route but I’m starting to think maybe he needs the surgery because he’s just in pain. I’ve never seen him so depressed I just want my playful baby back.

Hi! Thank you so much for your video. I have a 4-year old male Dachshund who several days ago was was diagnosed with Hansen Type I IVDD between his T12-T13 & L7-S1 vertebrae. He appears to be in a minor to medium level of pain, has full walking function, but has had a severe reduction in dynamic mobility from his previous self which I assume is from his level of pain. My veterinarian recommended he have surgery but provided us little information while at the clinic, referred us to a specialist out of the area, and sent us home with some paperwork from "Veterinary Partner". The paperwork outlines that surgery is rarely recommended for dogs whom have not lost walking ability and recommends an extensive in-house physical therapy plan (which was not even noted as an option by the veterinarian). Obviously, I will follow up with my veterinarian over the following few days, but was hoping you could provide me with some guidance as well. Thank you so much! Any assistance is greatly appreciated! :D

Thank you for this video! Is an X-ray of the neck enough to identify a disc disease?

Dr. My dog was diagnosed on Sunday with Ivdd. Its Wednesday now and we have taken the route on doing the medication treatment vs surgery. Our dog still has feeling in his legs and we've been discussing if we made the right choice. When do you recommended surgery and how soon? Our dog is large weights 85lbs and is a mixed German Shepard.

We just let our frenchie go yesterday due to IVDD. He was not enjoying life anymore and at 11 years old he had reached his normal life span. When your dogs are no longer who they where and are not able to enjoy what they once did, it’s time to let go.

My dog was diagnosed three days ago and he has almost no movement in the hind legs, sadly we cannot afford the surgery and have had to take the medicated route. Has anyone had success with route before? When should we consider physical therapy?
