This starter would crank the engine for about 2 seconds and then it sounded like the battery was going dead, tested the battery and it was fine checked for voltage drops to starter all good. New starter and its back on the road.

Thanks! I successfully changed out my starter due to your encouragement: “it’s not too bad.” Indeed. The hardest part was removing the Honda clips holding the shield on underneath.

My 08 E..has a plenum behind manifold. That was hardest part. Screw that underneath the car method. Before anyone try's this..check your starter relay. The relay ended up messing up my starter. Changed starter..had same issues. Changed relay...ANNNNDDDD was back to normal..good luck all

the other way to do this job is to go from under the veh its a personal choice its less to take off but when you do it from the top it is not as tight and there is more workroom and some people just dont know about doing it from under

How often does theStarters on the Honda 2004 elements go out?

Could you have removed just the top part of the brace? Looks like the vertical piece could have been left in by just unbolting the hood latch. Did it need to come out in order for there to be enough clearance for the manifold to come out?

Tried for hours removing it from the bottom by removing the knock sensor the mechanics make it look so simple but that top 14mm bolt is dang near impossible on your back instead of standing under a lift. Wish me luck im done for the day will try this weekend your way

Great vid, , thanks, , I dont own an Element yet, Im doing one month research on a few different cars before I buy but Im sure Im gonna get the Element, , how long do you think it would take to change the starter if you were going kinda normal speed, not too fast, not too slow?
My 87 pickup truck was so easy, but This still looks doable!

Word of warning...for the few of you with a manual trans E like mine, it takes a different starter.

Thank you very much for this video. It was very helpful. Can you tell me which brand name starter did you use for this video/replacement...?

that looks like you had a rust hold in your heater pipe that runs to thermo housing .at 3:31. I have the exact same issue haha. Coolant runs through there..
Oh nevermind thats the bracket that has the hole

Did you replace any gaskets, intake manifold or throttle body? Also, is there a particular brand of starter you prefer? Thanks.
