VanaMai which means ‘The Mothers’ is a mass call to modern women to embrace the healing powers of the mbira to help face today’s challenging times. Originally played predominantly by men, the mbira has been used for thousands of years by the Shona people of Zimbabwe for healing ceremonies.
The melodic and rhythmic cycle encompassed in VanaMai draws the listener into a state of meditation. Multi instrumentalist Anna combines her powerful vocals with the mbira, African drums and shakers so that thoughts and emotions in your soul will feel healed after listening to it, encouraging feelings of empowerment and liberation.
