Psalm 73:27-28 (NKJV)
27 For indeed, those who are far from You shall perish;
You have destroyed all those who [h]desert You for harlotry.
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God;
I have put my trust in the Lord God,
That I may declare all Your works.

Sermon: I’m a Christian: I Belong to the Family of God, the Church

Many people are waiting for a physical gathering into the Church Building. We shouldn’t confuse the Church and the Church Building. The Church Building was Closed, the Church was never closed. The body of Believers continues to grow in so many places.

Ephesians 3:6-11 (NLT)
6 And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.[b]7 By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News.
8 Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ. 9 I was chosen to explain to everyone[c] this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning.
10 God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.

1. God Has a Plan to Reach Every Person anywhere with the Gospel

Ephesians 3:6-7 (NLT)
6 And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.[b]7 By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News.

The Gospel is so personal and yet very Communal. You cannot embrace the gospel singly. The gospel doesn’t make sense until it is lived out in community with others, brothers and sisters in the faith.

2. Everyone who Believes Becomes Part of the Family of God and is Bound by Love

6 And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.[

Some say, “I’m Done with Church”. Church is not for perfect people. The glue that holds us together as the Body of Christ is the Love that Comes from Christ.
You Cannot Be a Christian and Be Separate from the Church. You Cannot Love the Person of Christ and Hate His Body, the Church! You cannot love the God you cannot see and hate the brother that you see.

If you are a Christian, I want to invite you to see the greater purpose of God. He says:

Matthew 16:18-19 (NLT)
18 Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’),[f] and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell[g] will not conquer it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid[h] on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit[i] on earth will be permitted in heaven.”

3. God Fulfills His Purpose on the Earth through the Church
The Global Church, that has a Local Expression

Ephesians 3:10-11

The Purpose is Bigger than the Plan. Why does God choose to use the Church to advance His Purpose on the earth? Because the Church is the Body of Christ, the Hands, Feet, the Heart of Jesus to the world.
The Purpose of God is not fulfilled in isolation. It was the intent of God that all Believers would rally in Community and together they would fulfill the Purpose of God to Extend His Kingdom on the Earth.
It therefore means, that as a Christian, I am called to Commit to the Church

Conclusion:
I have Some Questions for You:
1. Have You Embraced the Gospel; Have You Received the Good News and therefore Believed on the LORD Jesus?
2. Am I an Expression of God’s Love in the Body of Christ?
3. Am I Committed to the Purpose of the Church to Extend God’s Kingdom here on earth?
