@ils1979 - I fully agree with your sentiments. The Euro is doing nothing for Greece, except keeping it impoverished and indebted to Germany and France. Greece would receive a huge tourist boost if it were to re-adopt the Drachma, and once again offer great value to incoming visitors.

@ils1979 - I know and it just sours the impression of a country that has so much to offer as a tourist destination. If they keep it real, Albania could compete with the major destinations for tourists, but rip visitors off and they will go somewhere else instead.

Saranda was interesting enough but the prices for tourists are a complete rip-off. If you take the average Albanian wage of 250 Euro per month and then calculate it in terms of the UK average wage ... we paid the equivalent of £30 for a diet coke and a local beer! Not a good way to attract tourists, especially in the current economic climate.
