Показать описание
Andrea Palladio, 1508-80, was a Venetian architect who revived Greek and Roman architecture by rediscovering its underlying ancient principles. His book, The Four Books on Architecture, became the foundation of the classical revival style. It introduced Greek temple architecture on houses and secular buildings like banks. Palladio’s most famous building is the Villa Rotunda designed in 1567.

Montecello is an Italian word. In Italian, the letter C is pronounced with a hard sound “ch”, like the ch is in the word check.

Interesting. But a small error. Thomas Jefferson’s estate, Monticello, is pronounced “mon-teh-CHELL-oh, ” not “mon-teh-SELL-oh.”
