I am suspecting that its Adobe's fault wrt media engines not being used in dGPU during timeline playback. Maybe you should try the same test with Davinci Resolve. Since intel claims that Davinci Resolve officially supports Intel Arc, it might utilize the media encoders and decoders better.

Adobe sucks for all kinds of support. If you don't have an Nvidia GPU or Intel iGPU then you're out of luck most of the time. Davinci Resolve, however, stays ahead of the curve with hardware support.

In the latest beta they've added support for intel decoding (I have an AMD system with a nvidia + A380) but it doesn't work yet - given the current version of premiere doesn't even have an intel decode checkbox it may be a good sign they're working on it.

Sounds like a good option for content creator who does not play games. Hope Intel can further optimize the driver and develop more cards that is maybe in the $500-800 ranges.

You have to switch the card on in the BIOS.

My good sir.. Idk if you've planned this already or not, but please do review and compare 13500 with 12600k 🙏🥺

So Adobe needs to catch up and drop updates to utilize ARC gpus?

Adobe simply doesn’t support the encoder in arc yet. It’s quite different than the integrated one. They will ad support eventually.

Test out resolve ;)

According to Intel, the iGPU and Arc can work together to enhance performance. This demo shows that this feature isn't yet supported either by the driver or Premier. Hopefully this will change soon.

The 13600k is a beast for video editing with its 14 cores and quicksync IGP for only $300. PS adobe hasnt fully implemented support for the Arc media engines, you'll get much better performance with the A380, A750 and A770 with DaVinci until Adobe does an update.

Now that Adobe added improved Intel Arc support in the newest Premiere Pro 24 Beta, are there any plans to re-test your card with it in the future? If so, it would be greatly appreciated if you could test both with Rebar enabled and disabled, for those looking to slot it into an older system.

Here’s what Matt Bach at Puget Systems wrote about the preliminary testing with the new beta:

“So, from a performance standpoint, the Intel Arc A770 is looking very good with the new Premiere Pro 24 beta, beating the similarly priced RTX 4060 by about 15-20%. It won’t be able to keep up with a more powerful GPU like the RTX 4080 for many workflows, but if you work with a lot of LongGOP (H.264/HEVC) or Intraframe (ProRes/DNx) codecs and don’t make heavy use of GPU-accelerated effects, it could be an ideal choice – especially for those on a budget. “

Well, the Arc will at least do AV1 encoding… once that it’s utilized by more programs. Which, from what I’ve heard, it will be a very popular codec.

A friend asked me to build a video editing workstation and this is exactly the video I needed. Thank you for your work mate keep it up!

Sooner or later Adobe will get an update to support the Intel Arc line. Keep an eye on the update details, then retest when it comes through.

These are lots of fun man. Thanks for keeping the channel interesting and full of content. I'd love to see you do a custom micro build. There must be way to create a mini/micro PC capable of chewing through 8k footage? Maybe? Perhaps I am just dreaming. Anyhow, thanks again, the channel is fantastic!

Now we need to see how Da Vinci Resolve performs with that

I was wondering why you weren't able to use Hyper Encode (both GPUs at the same time), since you had the right hardware, but it looks like the only apps supported so far are:
HandBrake
Intel oneAPI
Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve Studio v17.4.5 or higher
Magix Video ProX14

It's funny that the the Arc Create page shows the Adobe logo in the Our Partners section, but I can't find any of their apps listed as supported yet.

It would be interesting to see how an arc performs in combination with an old Ryzen like 3900x because most won't buy the newest tech. But if the Arc performs well with a Ryzen this could be an affordable upgrade to timeline performance. @all anyone has some info on that combination?

Can you try this but with Davince Resolve 18 using " Hyper Encode " using the same cpu & gpu and another video but with the A770. Looking forward to this.
