This is the first anime that made me so emotional. I’ve never been so invested in an anime before. Lots of other shows have more tragic moments like people dying and shit like that, but watching a few high school girls graduate just broke me.

K-On... This anime easily makes into my top three. Ever since I was a kid, I was always pushed away from and never had many friends. And even the few I did have were really just jerks to me... My entire elementary school years and most of my middle school years I would just sit a corner alone during recess or swinging on the swings-alone. Kyoani made this anime, and it was something I never had. 4 friends with a common interest just truly enjoying their youth. While watching this anime, I felt like I was actually there in their group just having the time of my life. A lot of the teachers wonder why I'm so different from the other kids. I barely speak at all and when I do, I usually am smart about it. It's not because I'm "mature", it's because in the past when I've said something, I just get the casual "shut up" or "That's some stupid logic". So I had learned to keep my mouth shut all these years. The effects of that have seriously me hard and I began to become very anxious about what other people would say about me, and that really messed up my ability to talk to others. There was even a point when I started constantly running into the problem of tripping over my own words because I would start saying something, then not know if I should say it, so I try to take it back. So this anime showed me all of the things that I never had, but not in a bad way. It was a way of showing me what that life is like, if only for a few hours and put me into it. Thank you, Kyoani.

The fact that in the show Yui wrote this song for her little sister Ui is a sign of true sibling love and it's beautiful. People give this show shit for not featuring a lot of music BUT when they did perform as a band their performances came right from the heart and were filled with soul and love. However, I will say that the the performance in episode 20 of season 2 which was this song's debut was a cringe fest due to Yui being well...Yui.

I know that this song was intended to be for Ui and it's about Sisterly Love... but the actual lyrics transcends all that. The context is about a sibling relationship, but it's ultimately a song about expressing how you appreciate someone who is really important to you.

I lost my Dad a month ago and after reading the lyrics, I just fucken lost it. I'm crying through the whole song.

Even though it's in a different language... the soul of the song is about love and appreciation. It gives me some comfort that I did burn a copy of this song over a decade ago and I did play this song on the car CD when I drove my Dad and my family on some road trips. He couldn't understand it because it's in Japanese but he heard it.

This song expressed my unspoken feelings and I like to think he's hearing it from the great beyond.

If there is any consolation. I had a good cry today so that good I guess. And I really need a good cry.

Stephen King once said that "Life isn't a support system for art. It's the other way around." And this song is an amazing piece of art.

today is July 17th 2024. 5 years ago tomorrow a man named Shinji Aoba went to Kyoto Animation and set fire to them for reasons I am not aware. rest in peace to the animators that created this masterpiece of a series. you will never be forgotten. and thank you for all of the hard work you put into this, but most importantly... thank you For saving my and many others lives your work will always be appreciated.

i think i started watching k-on on 2009 or 2010 and i still watch it every now and then because it's so light and warm to the feeling. just watching it somehow eases my anxiety. really thankful they made this enjoyable anime and their songs are really good
