I work at a Refrigerated warehouse that ships a giant chunck of the midwests frozen and cooled products for walmart and kroger. We are almost a week behind on orders and drivers waiting so long they are literally told sometimes to leave. There are no forklift operators or enough truck drivers. We are running out of pallets on a daily basis because their is a pallet shortage. We just got our regular pay bumped to 2x and our OT to 3x. Its falling apart.

I'm a truck driver that also does go into the port sometimes and pick up containers or drop them off making deliveries to businesses. I have friends that work in the port as longshoreman and this does not reflect on them personally but the majority of Port workers you would be surprised to learn literally mystery truck drivers by order of their unions. The reason for this is a fact log us and have us sitting in the port not earning money if we're not paid hourly we sit for 10 hours just to have an empty container taken off of us and then leave and go get something else. They're told to do this so that the shipping companies in the ports are forced to hire more people. These guys get two half-hour breaks in an hour lunch and they take extended time. Beyond what their supposed to and we're left to just sit inside the port in our trucks waiting and we're not even allowed to have our trucks on if it's hot or cold or anything because they get mad that we're disturbing their break. You would be shocked to learn some of the horrific conditions were forced to work under his truck drivers and Joe Biden saying that we should Step Up is almost as stupid as the man is himself and his family yes I said it his daughter his son his wife and him are all stupid, all of them roll together in one tortilla still do not make a somewhat intelligible burrito, they're idiots and I cannot think of any stupider person that has ever worked in government than this man here. For the love of God he literally told the public that the smartest man Inu was the guy that smoked parmesan cheese off the carpet so, you do your own assessment but I can guarantee you that any person off the street to take over the position in the White House to run this country better than what is being run now

My dad works at the port of LA. They’re literally running out of room to stack the containers because they’re not getting picked up. There’s a shortage of truck drivers too. This problem is on every end

After listening to Ben, reading the comments and doing general reading, it seems the biggest problem is California government.

From what I gather the reason California dock is so backed up is they changed their smog rules for trucks and the trucks refuse to goto California because of it. Each trucker would have pay thousands to try to meet such rules.

I have been working with Port Logistics for two years and the change happened about a year and a half ago.
The major issue is the lack of chassis' available EVERYWHERE from CA to GA. There are more shipping Ocean Containers than chassis'.
The worst part is that the union workers just delete return appointments and turn people away for no reason. They also just don't work at the ports. Like, at all.

The fundamental problem is not the capacity of our ports or even the unions, it's that we offshored American manufacturing to begin with. You could argue that the unions had a lot to do with why that happened to begin with, and it wouldn't be wrong, but it wouldn't be the whole story.
