Enjoyed this series way back in the 1940s when I was a young schoolboy. I am now 86, still watching and enjoying! I am going to indulge myself by rewatching the entire series in 2 sessions. Kind regards to all my contemporaries who may be, or will be watchinng. January, 2023.

1:28:49 I noticed a sweet detail of realism: When Thun was struck down over the head by the hawkman's spear staff, he did NOT get "knocked out." A way too common trope even today, a blow to head causing unconsciousness is a serious brain trauma which will damage the person's functioning, even with rehab to help. We see see the lionmens' leader was merely stunned by the blow. Moral: ALWAYS trust a Flash Gordon serial.

Oh man this is fantastic. This was on TV on Sunday mornings when we were kids late '50s. I know it was Sundays because eventually our parents would come to get us for church. Not the most popular choice mind you.

I just finished chapter 1. I laughed out loud at the cliffhanger, just beautiful. I plan to make my way through this just like the old days thank you so much.

Brings back memories of my brother and I watching this every afternoon after school in syndication. The cliffhangers bring us back everyday to see what happens next.

They used to show an episode of this every Saturday morning for the children's Saturday Morning Cinema (along with other series which continued and films). It was like Batman with 'What will happen next week?' I didn't always go every week so I missed certain episodes and the continuation of the stories. It will be good to see the complete stories with the episodes I missed. I really miss those Saturday mornings when I was a child. I grew to love the cinema because of them.

Every time I watch this great serial I'm struck by how good Priscilla Lawson is. Besides being a hot babe, her character is responsible for propelling much of the plot, and she even comes to Flash's rescue a few times whereas Dale basically stands around. I always used to think Flash was blind for choosing ineffectual Dale over brave, assertive Aura.

George Lucas watched Flash Gordon movie serials on TV when he was a kid. That's the inspiration for Star Wars.

When I was a kid 70 years ago I liked the third one because it had the best rocket ships. When I saw the serials as an adult, I found I greatly preferred this one. Looking back to when these were made 85-90 years ago, what I notice most was how the mores have changed. In 1934, when the first one was made, it was OK for Dale to be a blonde dressed in a series of sheer, flimsy costumes; by, I think, 1940, in the last one, she's a brunette dressed in a buttoned-up woolen uniform with that ridiculous feathered hat.

I almost gave up hope when the crab claw monster got Flash. His love for Dale allowed him to push beyond his limetations to rescue his soul mate. Love will do that.

In Chicago, late '50s, these old Flash Gordons were on Sunday mornings and, being a kid, I knew there was something about Princess Aura (Priscilla Lawson) that I REALLY liked. It was later when I read about the philosophical concept of Apollonian versus Dionysian in literature and movies that I understood: Dale Arden was Apollonian, blond, and of good character whereas Princess Aura was Dionysian, dark haired, hot, and available to...well, enjoy. I think Priscilla Lawson was my first crush way back when. Good memories.
