Heavy Rain Causes Mayhem On The M25 | Britain's Busiest Motorway E5 | Our Stories

Documentary series which goes behind the scenes and on the roads with the characters who work on one of the most famous and busiest motorways in Britain - the M25. The M25 carries over 200,000 high-speed vehicles every day, which can make the motorway unpredictable. A traffic officer working on the M25 has to be ready for anything. Nearly 30 per cent of all traffic collisions on the M25 happen in wet weather. An unexpected thunderstorm has hit the region, dropping two weeks' worth of rain in just three hours. The huge amount of water has caused a flood at junction 21, covering one entire carriageway, meaning that Highways England are forced to shut the motorway. Another unexpected problem is animals. The M25 lies on the edge of London's green belt, and with so much wildlife nearby, traffic officers need to know how to cope. Kevin, Andy and their colleague Simon are sent to learn horse-handling training - and they are not exactly filled with excitement about the prospect.

Heavy Rain does NOT cause mayhem on the M25... it's poor driving standards where drivers don't adapt their driving according to the conditions that causes chaos on the M25.

Some people think the outside right lanes are they’re own private lane. they are for overtaking not for you to sit in at 60mph creating massive traffic jams. It’s a simple code to follow. If your not overtaking get out of the overtaking lanes.

We have snow problems in Idaho. People think they can drive like they do in the car commercials, flying along the road, throwing snow out either side of the SUV, no skid, no slide, no other cars to consider.
