Everyone going on about Roy being the new Ash Ketchum… but are y’all forgetting that he copied ME?!

I can see why people would make that comparison. I’m mostly interested in the direction the anime is heading in now that the Rising Volt Tacklers are wanted criminals.

Well Rip-off Ash has a lot of similarities to the original

They are both from Kanto
They both like to battle
They are both really good at battling, as Roy was the only one of his trio to actually defeat a Gym Leader (something that not even Liko, the main female protagonist, couldn't even do)
They both wear the same type of hat
They both caught the regional bird of the series
Both have a Lucario and a Pikachu
Heck both of them even owed Shiny Pokémon

Roy is as different to Ash as Cooler is from Frieza.

I know lots of people are trying to force the whole Ash 2.0 thing and we saw how that worked out for Goh. There is nothing I can see that makes them even close to the same and if ash comes back he would wipe the floor with Roy just like he has done with everyone else. They couldn’t even beat Geeta and she’s the worst and weakest champion of all regions combined.

I will say no he isn’t just because of pikachu and now mega lucario I think Roy has become his own person and his journey and character development is on another level for me plus the way Roy has looked up to Friede and the symbolism here with his drip
