These countries surprise because of the way maps are distorted when you stretch a sphere onto a flat map. The large countries close to the equator look smaller than they are in reality. The countries at the top of the map look bigger than they are in reality. So Greenland is big, but not THAT big. And Brazil looks pretty big, but in reality it's MUCH bigger.
