This is a cover of Sting's 1995 song "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" but Sing's focus was love but I think this cover, released during the Covid-19 pandemic and on 911, is about us.

It seems to convey the meaning of the lyrics even better especially when combined with the visuals in the video.

Nice choice! My favorite song by Disturbed has to be Prayer from their Believe album. That whole album is amazing, but that song in particular moves me and gives me a kick to keep going.

You are right about female listeners)) That divine voice of his sounds specially captivating, intimate and sexy. The cover is so sublime! With that heavy transition too, it hits even harder. Almost like their The Sound of Silence version. And you were right about the 2000s rock vibe, I also listened to these bands. Was in college back then. Ahh.. good times)

Thats the key to great lyric writing.. Don't make it about something super specific, instead describe something relativley vague that you have feelings about. This way the lyrics will relate to so many more people. Combine this with a great melody and a predicatably structured musical piece, and there you go... basically the blueprint to all long lasting songs.

Just because the music is played a lot doesn't mean it's liked. It just means it is promoted above all else. And if you hear it enough you wont think about the other kinds of music. Hence how our radio/music soundscape is today. Mostly worthless, but the gems that do stand out, really stand out.

Music today is manufactured as management become "artist" producing cardboard props for the sales without a soul. Authentic talent is overlooked for masked talent; in compliance with fortune and fame, through technological means of making the worst sounds, heavenly. Still, it doesn't make up for soul. Especially since a real artist doesn't compromise themselves for gains to be just fine as all is well with oppression of creativity. An older tune by DISTURBED speaks volumes "Sons of plunder"

Between the two. I think that, 'If I ever lose my faith in you', seemed to be with the Sting version, more about his lover. But in the one from Disturbed, and granted the video has something to do with it. more like their reference to 'you', seems to mean humanity. JMHO.
