Suggestion: Canon 5Ds. Cheap as dirt on ebay and a fantastic camera. I do love the Canon 5D mark II and I have two of them (one is a infrared converted camera).

I agree with your assessment of the original A7, very different than the rest of the line, delightfully light for a Full Frame, my cheap entry into Full Frame some years ago. Have since also picked up the A7II, but still held onto the original for the unique joy of shooting with it sporting a small, light legacy lens like the diminutive Pentax 35mm m42 screw mount Takumars or light as a feather modern Samyang 35mm f 2.8 pancake type👌

3 years on. And 7Artisans have an electronic adapter out for Sony lenses where everything works. I use a Canon EF 70-200 F4 IS USM lens on my Sony A7 and autofocus, image stabilization etc works fine, even when filming! And I am thinling of getting a Canon EF 24-105mm lens for it as well, as they are so cheap used now, and I cant afford good Sony glass.

I own a Nikon D610 and it has Live View and it is supported By Adobe Lightroom newer version to actually see the Live View. However I like your approach from a professional photographer's angle. Agree with you a 100%.

Did he mention Pentax K1 - still class leading for landscape - look up its features: from gps, wifi, infra red remote shutter to built in astro tracer. Why youtubers continue to ignore it is baffling!

Very interesting comparison. Personally have been looking around for a cheap full frame landscape camera for a downgrade from my A7III. Dont get me wrong its an amazing entry level camera especially so for wildlife/portraits shooters. I just cant justify the price(of both the camera and the lenses ) to feature utilization in terms of landscape photography.
After much research i decided on the 6D, which is interesting since you didnt mention this camera. Amazing camera, even better than the 5D3 in terms of low light and dynamic range (some might say its low light is even better then its brother 6D2). Not to mention its cheaper and have more recent features (Wifi to connect to smartphone app /GPS). Whats better? getting a mint camera in 2020 for a cheap price!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts for budget camera bodies, but I would be cautious regarding the Nikon bodies you suggested in your review
- D600 shutter spitting oil on the sensor, never decently sorted out by Nikon the reason why the D600 was short lived and replaced by the D610.
- D800 can have the same shutter oil problem as the D600 and a misalignment of the phase detect sensors with gives AF problems, Nikon service centre can remedy to the problem. You can have the D800 in 2 variations one with anti alias filter and the D800 with anti alias cancellation filter called the D800E. I would stretch towards a D810 with have no anti alias filter at all and has to my knowledge no known defects.
- D750 a great camera but with 3 recall actions I would be cautious and ask the seller if these issues had been sorted out. I had personally some major issues with the AF system most of my Nikkor lenses needed a correction of about +20
(AF-D and AF-S lenses) although the sensor is great, it was one of the lightest FF DSLR's when released and the tilt screen is very interesting. I went through 3 different bodies and finally gave up. The official service centre of my country did not help and even made things worser. I moved to another system (painful and costly decision) after 27 years Nikon use, but kept my D700 and a couple of lenses as I still have some analogue Nikon camera's
Other contenders as mentioned in other posts
- Pentax K1
- Canon 6D ( better sensor than the 6DMkII and 5DMkIII although lower res), same AF system as the 5D & 5DMkII)
- Nikon D4 or the lighter unloved Df they share the same Renaisance (bought by Sony) 16Mp sensor this sensor has a lot of highlight recovery. The D4 is a heavy beast designed for press photography and the Df is lighter with the AF system of the D600/D610 and a tiny battery.
These are of course my opinions.
With Regards,

Best summation yet. For $1000 for Canon RP is going to do it for me. Canons integration of EF lenses into the RF system beats Nikons and Sonys efforts. I can get a new RP and a used 16-35 F4 L IS for a bit over $2K in Aussie dollars. I don't shoot video or people so Its the sensor and the lenses I am chasing.

I settled on a Nikon D810, and D700 . I'm very pleased with both, as they perform very well . Any further purchases are for lenses .

If I was buying a budget full frame for landscapes right now it would probably be the D810 - very good dynamic range and 36MP should be more than enough for most. For lenses I'd get the Tamron 17-35mm, Nikon 24-85 3.5-4.5g ed vr and the Tamron 70-210 f4. All that for around £2000

Would you reccomend a Sony A7RII or Nikon D810 for landscape photography? They are pretty cheap used now

Hi there!New subscriber here, what do you think about Nikon d300 and Nikon d700 in 2021 for general photography like portraits and Nature photography?
Do you have any experiences using any of them?Actually i am a beginner and i am looking to buy a Nikon d300 body(27000 clicks) with one extra battery for about 170 usd.what is your opinion on this camera?
I like to shoot Nature, macro pic of flowers and butterflies and portraits.
I like your channel a lot and i am also learning from your videos, Thank you

Thx for the information Martin.
Just a quick question, just starting out in photography, own 2 bodies, 5D classic and a 7Dmk1.
I imagine the dynamic range on both these bodies are shocking compared to newer versions but I'm new and these work for me and with my 5D I'm trying to learn the fundamentals (always on manual) with out any assistance from the body.
Anyway, the question is I've looked at your uploads regarding Landscape photography and the 5D and your photos are simply stunning!!
I have a 16-35mm f/4L Is being delivered tomorrow to use with my 5D.
Should I still be able to get great landscapes with this setup?
Cheers

For sure Sony has a great dynamic range, but I prefer the colours and the "quality" of Canon and in the worst case bracketing helps.

Idk if my A7ii had the same sensor as the original but i did not like the pictures at all. Infact compared with the tiny apsc fuji xf10 i had at the time was better in all areas. It was 4yrs newer though

I would like to try one of these Nickons u keep talking about. 😁 over here in the u.s. we only get the Nikons

I refuse to part with my D750 because it's like an old friend, but for landscapes I prefer my Z7 which according to "smart people" is already outdated.
