You're supposed to worship Krishna .... why do y'all directly go against what teachers say ?
Did Prabhupada spend all his time venerating teachers ? No ....
It was a cult he said - but a cult of personality of God. Krishna is the personality of Godhead.

All great teachers suffer from this. Jesus long ago was misunderstood. In more recent history Ananda Maa said that she is just a stupid little girl and to focus on God yet to this day there are surviving cults worshipping her. They didn't understand what she taught what so ever.

Chaitanya was allegedly asked by the devotees if he is God and he also said no. The devotees then allegedly decided that he is pretending to be a regular human for their sake and he is actually God. Chaitanya whose lineage A C Bhaktivedanta falls into directly. The Gaudya Vaishnavism ....

So why do you go against the teaching/instruction ? Because God makes you act that way. You are not in control of anything nor do you decide anything. If one is lucky enough to receive this understanding directly they may find themselves closer to eternal bliss with God (Brahma nirvana)
