Mark shared this very cool photo of a brass quintet… the assignment was to create some publicity shots in outdoor settings for the group.

He also shared the following technical details… The camera was a Canon 5D Mark III with a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art lens. The Shutter speed was 1/250, with an aperture of f/11 and the ISO was 200. Exposure was set using Aperture Priority Automatic. Mark did his Post processing in Lightroom CC and Alien Skin Exposure X.

Images Re-Imagined is a weekly series dedicated to helping you improve your photography skills by doing a video photo critique of user submitted photographs

Thank you so much Joe. Your comments have been very instructive and I agreed with all of them. Several days after this shoot I was struck by my laziness on this shoot. I realized I should have had my light meter with me and shot in manual - like I normally would. But I was lazy that day and limited my gear and this gets me in trouble every time. I will now be reediting this shot (and others from this session) to improve my PP. BTW: the last photo you showed was created by the Alien Skin plugin called Snap Art 4.

Another helpful critique, and re-imagined photo. Mark was right going with colorful wall. I can see train station shoot on back of album. Always learning from Your Videos.

I only recently subscribed to your channel and just found this series. Will you make another one some time soon? It's great to see how an image can be changed and I believe improved without too much work. Your edits give the image exactly what it needs without having to know Photoshop inside out. Post processing is one of those things that can get out of hand very quickly because you're giving so many options, it sometimes feels like we need to fiddle about with all of them when sometimes the SOOC can look even better.

To make sure he got the exposure right, he could have bracketed, shooting over and under exposures etc....best to make sure the shot is covered. And like you said shooting more frames to make sure everyone has their eyes open. He seemed to not be sure about his background choices. The other attempts were too busy. The harsh light made that shot a challenge using natural light only. I'd of used my strobe/beauty dish and had them facing away from the sun. (For instance.) You were right in correcting the color shift in the shot, giving them back their black outfits. Your version was definitely better here.

Perhaps a little yellow in the faces is appropriate, but not as much as in the submitted photo.
