Consumers can't afford groceries, so how is a lower reverse repo rate going to help them? Now that it is settled the Fed will cut rates next week, everyone wants to know by how much. The real story is what's behind the cuts in the first place and what that means for financial markets as well as the economy. It isn't the murder hornet rate.

The Fed is undoubtedly responsible for the present catch-up efforts, as they were first too slow to control inflation. The pandemic, supply-chain issues, are all contributing reasons to the impending inflationary perfect storm. I'm still looking for companies to make additions to my $500K portfolio, to boost performance. Here for ideas...

They cut rates in Europe and Canada and it did nothing for their economy. That doesn't bring your auto insurance, home owners insurance, property taxes, utility bills, back down.

Interest rate cuts were a false hope—nothing was ever meant to save this collapsing economy.

I am really worried about the current crisis/interest rates, these are all the signs of yet another 2008 market crash 2.0, so my question is do I still save in the United States dollar or is this a good time to buy gold?

The rising interest rate can surely control inflation, but won't prevent erosion of the eroding purchasing power of the US dollar. I have learnt my lesson this time. The banks can't be making money off my money, while inflation eats into it. I have set aside 650k to invest in the stock market now, since that keeps up with inflation, but I don't know how to get started.

The Fed should just buy another 10 trillion of Cash 4 Trash to put on their books, bring rates to zero to wealth transfer another 10 trillion to the very top and make all the middle class and poor pay

A 50 point cut would be as effective as a Taylor Swift presidential endorsement.

Ending QT to inflate asset prices yet further would snuff out the last bit of credibility the US market has left

Rate cuts do actually make a huge difference for me. I pay about 5% interest on my float-rate mortgage which translates into about 10000 SEK (roughly 1000 USD) a month. When rates go down here, there will be a spontaneous effect on the interest I pay. So, yes. It does make a difference but given that you guys in the US often have a fixed-rate mortgage, it really doesn't matter that much to you.

If they cut by 50 we’re in trouble. There should not be any rate cuts this year.

This Fed rate cut leaves me pondering what stocks to buy now and when do I sell? I'm unsure how to properly allocate my money to achieve an optimal portfolio in this present economy, my goal is $3m for retirement.

People won’t spend bc they run out of money, maxed out cards and debit at its all time high. Economy gonna crash along with markets until corporations have to cut goods prices trying to find demand which they won’t find anytime soon.
