I bought my son a Tesla quad in 2011, it was called a Razor back then. You can upgrade the battery to make it faster and run longer.

For $1700 I could get a used quad that may need a little tlc. It can go well over 10 miles an hour, a full tank of gas lasts hours, and can hold me and a hot chick
